Oil change took almost an hour. Mike took me into the shop to view worn brake pads. Was going to send an email on the estimate to repair them once needed. Never got the email estimate from him.

First time getting service here. Appointment was on time and service was prompt. Tech found a tire defect that I would NEVER HAVE SEEN until tire failed. I’m so glad this was detected. Got some other meaningful service reminders and NO PRESSURE to make any additional purchases or appointments. The experience left me feeling confident I received quality expert service at a very reasonable cost. Give them a try!

When the local Subaru dealer gave me an estimate for recommended work (four new tires, a wheel alignment, and front/rear differential fluid replacement) on our vehicle with 35,000 miles, on the same day they had just completed its scheduled maintenance, I decided to get another opinion. They said the tires were wearing badly, and were surprised I had not noticed extra noise (I had not). The estimate had several inaccuracies which did not give me confidence. The car also needed an emissions test, but the dealer said I would need to go elsewhere for that. So I took it to the Auto Safety Center. I asked about the tires. The service advisor, Mike, looked at them, felt them, and measured the tread depth. He was diplomatic about it. He said he thought the dealer may have been a little over-concerned about the condition of my tires. He felt no significant wear, and he thought it could wait six months or so, but recommended replacing them before winter snow driving. He did agree with the differential service, because it helps avoid a very expensive repair by just replacing the fluid every 30,000 miles (not part of Subaru’s scheduled 30,000 or 35,000 mile maintenance program, I would note). For that item, Sommers Subaru wanted $778.05, plus “shop charges”, plus tax. At the Auto Safety Center, the final bill was $376.51 which included the hazardous waste disposal fee, shop supplies AND tax. It was the same as the estimate, to the penny. So without knowing what the dealer’s supplies would actually cost, I saved at least $444.33 just on the differential service. And this place is closer to home and more convenient, as well. And they provide a loaner car if you need it, plus they test for emissions if you need that. I feel like the Auto Safety Center just provided a higher level of service and trust than the dealership did, and it was a more pleasant experience.
