I'm a little suspicious about the miles put on my car while it was at Auto Safety Center. My car was at ASC twice. The first time it looked like my car was driven about 15-20 miles. The second time I jotted down my mileage before dropping the car off. When I picked it up, my car had been driven 3 miles. I know that a road test is sometimes needed, but there were way too many miles driven the first time and the second time would not have required a road test. I pay attention to these things because several years ago I had my car worked on at another shop in West Bend, and when I picked it up it smelled like french fries. Obviously someone made a fast food run with my car.
We will often road test a vehicle before and after servicing it. Your first service did require a road test on the highway which I would guess is about 8 - 10 miles one trip. Some road test can go longer especially if we are trying to reset the emissions readiness monitors so you can take it through the emission test. The road test is an important part of not only preliminary testing, but confirming the vehicle is repaired properly. We want to make sure your vehicle is completely ready to be returned to you when you come to pick it up (repair confirmed, no strange noises, warning lights etc.) Nothing worse than hearing a strange noise 2 blocks away and having to turn around and go back to the shop. This is why we drove it the 3 miles the second time.
